Wolf was founded in 1995. In 2000 the debut album Wolf was released. In 2002 the band played at the Wacken Open Air and released their second album Black Wings. Evil Star was released in 2004. In 2005, Wolf played at the rock-hard festival, and drummer Daniel Bergkvist was replaced by Tobias Kellgren. In 2006 the fourth album The Black Flame was released. On July 7, 2007, Wolf announced that Mikael Goding was leaving the band, with Anders "Tornado" Modd joining the band as the new bass player.
