Dio

Ronnie James Dio (* July 10, 1942 in Portsmouth, New Hampshire as Ronald James Padavona; † May 16, 2010 in Los Angeles)

was an American hard rock and heavy metal singer with the bands Elf, Rainbow, Black Sabbath, Dio and Heaven and Hell.

He is considered one of the most important singers in this field of music.

Dio is also often cited as the inventor of the Mano-cornuta or Devil Horns hand gesture, which established itself as a greeting in the metal scene worldwide.

Since Dio used it very prominently, he contributed to the popularization of the gesture.
