Chuck Schuldiner (voc / g) founded the Mantas troupe in 1983 with his high school friends Kam Lee (dr) and Rick Rozz (g). With her he brings out a couple of demos, with Kam being responsible for the vocals on the first one. While still in the demo phase, Chuck renames the band Death and Combat Records finally notice the guys. In 1987 the debut "Scream Bloody Gore" was released, one of the all-time Death Metal highlights. On this disc, Mr. Schuldiner finds support in John Hand (g) and Chris Reifert (dr), who have to give way to Bill Andrews (dr) and Terry Butler (b) on "Leprosy". Rick Rozz is also returning.
