Black Veil Brides was founded in 2006 by Andrew Biersack, Johnny Herold and Phil “Catalyst” Cendella.

A little later, Nate Shipp and Chris Riesenberg joined the band, who got in touch with the band via Myspace.

Nate Shipp became the main lyricist for Black Veil Brides.

While Andrew Biersack's lyrics were more of a personal nature, Shipp wrote dark, poetic lyrics.

After the group had played a few shows in their hometown and entered the studio for their first professional songs and also a music video,

Biersack noticed a growing distance between him and Nate.

Musical and personal differences were ultimately responsible for a split.

Over time, the line-up was changed several times.

Biersack is now the only remaining original member
